CAKE ALTERNATIVE - RICE KRISPIES ICE CREAM CONE TREATS!

It's almost summer! TONS of reasons to celebrate, be outside and enjoy good food.

We had a birthday in the family and decided to make some sweet treats. Being that it getting hot we didn't want to make the house any hotter by turning on the oven...then the ice cream rice crispy treat was born!!! Not really our original idea but a great one nonetheless.

We got the cutter at JoAnn Fabrics for 99 cents... and we had a 50% off coupon!

When then doctored some icing and added sprinkles and pearls.

You can make the crispy recipe as stated inside every rice crispy box. The recipe is as follows:

Rice Krispies Recipe

3 tablespoons of butter

1 10 oz package of regular marshmallows

6 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies

We do it in the microwave not on the stove top. It saves time and is less likely to burn if you do it in the microwave.

1. Put butter and marshmallows in microwave safe bowl and heat 30 seconds at a time until the mixture in melted and smooth when stirred.

2. Add rice krispies and mix well, move quickly as the marshmallow will want to set up again as it starts to cool.

3. Spread onto pan or dish of choice and let cool at room temperature.

4. Cut and enjoy.

This is a goof proof recipe. Great for kids to participate in as well. You can then add flavorings or extracts to taste to the marshmallows, add them before you add the rice krispies so it mixes well. We split the recipe and added about 1/3 cup of chunky peanut butter. So some were the original flavor we all know and love and the chocolate iced ones were choco-nutty goodness. We also added mint extract to the bottom rows frosting for a minty ice cream flavor. Smooth the mixture out on a pan about 1 inch thick and let set for at least 1 hour or until cooled. Then cut with your cutter. Let your imagination run wild! There are so many cutters to choose from and so little time. Mix your frosting with desired flavors or colors and sprinkle or dip your frosted crispy in decorations of your choice.

These make a great alternative to cake and are great with ice cream! They also will hold candles well. Try these at your next get together, these are sure to be a crowd pleaser. Thanks Mom, for making these delightful treats!
